Mission Statement
The Jazzy Fund was created to provide financial aid to students residing in Fairfield County, Connecticut who have a clear career goal of pursuing an RN-BSN degree at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Meet Jasmyn

Determined, faithful, loving, caring, and a fashionista—that is who Jasmyn Nicolle Gooden is, also known affectionately by her family and close friends as “Jazzy”. Active in spirit and mind, Jasmyn was involved in many endeavors, from playing soccer for BAYSO to dancing on the stage as a student of DeeDee’s Dance Center. However, she was most impassioned in the church, where she was first a member of the youth choir before rising to the ranks of a junior usher.
Jasmyn also volunteered, alongside her loving mother, for several years as a food server for the Taste of Black Rock Community Event. She frequented the Cardinal Sheehan Center and ultimately became a junior camp counselor during the summer months. In her junior and senior years of high school, she participated in touring colleges as a member of The Village Initiative Project.
After her diagnosis of GIST cancer at the tender age of 13 and recovering from her first major procedure, Jasmyn decided she wanted to become a nurse. Despite her treatments and surgeries, she graduated with honors and became a registered nurse with her BSN credentials. She went on to work at Yale New Haven Health and Stamford Hospital, but her desire to travel eventually led her to provide care and comfort to patients in Boston, St. Louis and San Francisco.
Jasmyn’s thirst for knowledge, accompanied by her “just-do-it” attitude, was something to be admired. She often stood her ground when it came to her medical treatments, which resulted in her being an advocate for others when it came to quality health care.

She never wavered, stayed strong, and continued to dream. Her strong faith and love for her family and the love she received from her family and friends provided her with the support and comfort needed in the last years of her life.
The Jasmyn Nicolle Gooden Scholarship Fund was created not only to keep her legacy of LOVE alive, but to also serve as a reminder that life begins with courage. This scholarship aims to support Fairfield County residents who have the desire and commitment of pursuing their RN-BSN degrees.
On behalf of our beloved and beautiful angel, thank you.
